The
Yoga Barn
is a vision, a future home for Anusara Yoga in Asheville, North Carolina.
In the Anusara method we have a strong focus on community. The Yoga Barn supports Asheville
yogis with a community gathering place; a physical location to practice asana, study sacred text,
and/or enjoy one another's company.
Historically, the barn represents a refuge or safe haven. For us, it is a sacred shelter
where our kula can grow. Kula, in Sanskrit, means "community of the heart". It is a joining
together of people that recognize our universal oneness. We come with open hearts to celebrate
our diversity, to learn from, and to grow with one another in order to serve the greater good.
The Yoga Barn
is symbolic of our intention to build and serve the community. Currently, it
is a structure with no "true" walls, but the foundation is rooted deeply in our hearts and will
inspire a barn raising in us all.
