Return toward the Highest: The Spiritual Refinement of the Loving Heart, 2/24/2012
A Weekend of Sutra Study, Discussion, Asana and Meditation

This weekend gathering will give those in the Asheville area who have read Exquisite Love: Heart-Centered Reflections on the Narada Bhakti Sutra an extended opportunity to reflect together with Bill Mahony, author of Exquisite Love, on what it is to live a life oriented toward increasingly higher levels of spiritual love. This will be a combination of both book discussion and workshop in yoga philosophy and practice.

Those who have not read this book are most warmly invited to participate, too. The only requirement is an open mind and heart.

With Bill leading our discussion based on selected sections from his book, we will talk about ways in which we can more fully open ourselves to the graceful Love that affirms and supports us at the core of our being so that we can delight in it more deeply and continuously.

So, too, we will talk about ways in which we can refine and elevate our response to that Love so that it can more fully illumine our own love for others, for ourselves and for life itself.

This will be a memorable weekend of thoughtful conversation and contemplation on the nature of a yogic life grounded in Love. As a way to integrate the contours of the body, mind and heart, our sessions will include light asana practice and periods of meditation. We hope you join us.

Unveiling the Goddess, 1/20/2012
An ongoing yoga study for women facilitated by Deirdre Smith Gilmer, certified Anusara yoga teacher. Together we will explore the symbolism of the goddess and learn tools to uncover our own innate female wisdom. There will be little or no asana practice at these sessions. We will always meditate together, have study time, conversation, writing activities, readings, and lots of other fun stuff! We may move around but no heavy duty asana practice.

Goddesses, here are a few details to pass along and clear up:
I would like for you all to commit to at least the first 4 sessions/months, $40 per session. This is for several reasons, but mainly to build consistency in the group. This does not mean that you can not miss a group, it means you are committed to coming back should you need to miss. My hope would be that we would all stick together for longer than that, but we'll see how that goes. We will continue to check in! Along those lines, I will be sending/emailing a contract to each of you for you to look over, sign, and bring with you the first meeting.

We will be meeting right at dinner time 5:30-8:30 so bring food if you'd like. We may discuss pot luck or some other option for the future. The plan is to begin with meditation so we can dive into food after that. The location is at 386 S. French Broad Street (corner of Choctaw). It is a sweet feeling space with large room for sitting in chairs or on the floor. There is a full kitchen if you need to heat or refrigerate food, parking in the back, at the house next door or on the street.
